Welcome back to another of our blog post on logo design which provides you with a comprehensive details on the creation of the best possible logo design. We have covered several of the factors in our previous blog posts regarding logo which specifically involved the aspects of typography, uses of spaces, and the implementation of graphics.

We left our blog post at Step 16 last time, and we would be continuing from then on. This blog post would be covering several factors which involve the hygiene as well as tone of the logo while keeping it in tandem with the present time. In this blog post we would be covering one of the crucial factors of functionality which helps in designing of the Logo. So let’s get on with the post.

Keeping Track Of the Hygiene Factors of the Logo Design
Last time our discussion completed with some amount experimentation and implementation of tone and colour. When it comes to colour it has to be kept in mind that overuse of colour and tone can take a huge toll on the hygiene of the Logo Design. So here are some of pointers about how to keep the Logo design clean and clear of any clutters.

Step 17: Never Use More Than Two Fonts
Too much of typefaces can lead to a much cluttered logo design as an end result. So the best option is to use not more than 2 font faces, to come up with clear cut logo. One subtle typeface is enough to make logo look good.

Step 18: Logo Design and Background
Whenever you are doing an acid test for your logo design, try to test it against any backgrounds. In most cases the clients prefer white backgrounds, but there is no harm if you have it tested against darker or essentially black backgrounds. It is mandatory if you also can check the logo in monochrome. Put yourself in the shoes of your client and test the logo based on different colours.

Step 19: Keeping Track of the Trend
Trend is something which changes continuously. You will notice the changes of trends in logo as well. You have to be judicious enough either to follow the current trend or create the trend of your own. Your ideology should be disruptive to change the current trend. Be it Black or White, Serrated Edges, Mosaic or energetic pattern, transparent overlaps or much simplified it should be absolutely up to about what logo trend you would be choosing.

Step 20: Editing Through Subtraction
It is one of the most difficult times when it comes to the editing of the Logo design. There are ought to be spaces in your logo design which seems to be redundant. Continuously question yourself by placing the relevant facts in front of you. Focus yourself and find out whether the elements in front of your eyes are relevant and matching with the brief of the client or is it the result of your over indulgence. Ask yourself if you are putting unnecessary things in your Logo Design.

Subtraction in this scenario is the only option by which you can remove your redundancy.

Step 21: Try To Keep It Short and Simple
Logo design definitely serves the essence of the company. But it is mandatory that you should burden your logo with all its core values along with its missions and visions for what it lives for. Don’t force the history of the company or product into the logo design by which the value of the Logo diminishes. If you take the example IT Giant Microsoft, it does not show computers on the logo. The swoosh logo of Nike does not depicts any of the shoes or accessories, Nike sells.

Step 22: Lock it up with Logo Lock-Up
The term Lock-Up in case of Logos in a nutshell means the final logo with all the elements locked in a relative position with some amount of cohesion amongst each other. At times some elements of the logo can stand without the support of the Logo itself, such as the taglines or symbol by itself. They can exist on their own and when they are locked-up, they can exist together.

For example, if again the Nike Logo is taken into consideration, the famous tagline –‘Just Do it!’ and the ‘Swoosh Logo’ can exist separately. But a Lock-up happens these elements can perfectly coerce together.

Step 23: Make Your Logo Design Responsive
With introduction to several smart devices including Smart phones, Phabs and Tabs, it has become a necessity to make the Logo Design responsive. It not a simple task of resizing it by making it big or small. Add some elements to the Logo if you have to make it compatible with the responsive website designs.

How far is your Logo design Functional?

After the logo design is being completed, it is imperative to see the extent of the functionality of your logo design. Testing is best option over here.

Step 24: Different sizes for Logo Design
It is highly possible that what you might find beautiful in your preferred resolution might not be the same for another resolution of a different monitor. It is best to experiment with your Logo and putting it through different sizes.

Check out if it changes into a small spot of paint if it is zoomed in or out. Find out if they work as a small icon or a full screen Logo design.

Step 25: Demonstrate it with a Non Print Variant
The best way for implementation and tasting of the Logo is through is to put it on variants which can be used in the real world. Be it on the screen of the computer monitor or of the mobile phone, or it can on posters or the billboards of the sidewalks. These demos can help the client to visualise that how the Logos would look in these kinds of virtual scenario.

Have different varieties of Logo designs under your disposal including Insignia ones which can occupy the smallest of the spaces and even a gray scale version. To show your aesthetic side, you can always have a Logo embroidered in a piece of cloth.
